For the second time in a row I've commissioned Capri to make my grandbaby's birthday cake. It was wonderful again. The last cake was particularly nice b/c they only had a week to make it. The fondant was delicious, the design was custom (they did everything right), and the cake inside was also fantastic. Bravo to this local bakery!!! The price was very reasonable as well. I highly recommend them.

Been here twice recently. The Elephant ears were good but a little too sticky/syrupy. The Flan was good but heavy. Last night went and picked up a red velvet cake. It was dry and overall very mediocre. I expected more from this place as it is always packed.

I like the cakes ( specially 3 leches) but it takes forever just to order one doughnut ( let's understand that the space inside is very small) . It is affordable and good overall.

Capri Bakery is a Latin bakery located in Spanish Harlem. I say "Latin" because the people running the bakery range from Cuban to Venezuelan to Mexican to Dominican to Ecuadorian. It's not a singular entity but rather a bakery with ties to American treats and Latin treats. You can get a glazed doughnut and cakes here as well as pasteles de queso y pasteles de quayaba. I was attracted to the place by the pasteles de queso and the promise of decent cafe. The pasteles de queso didn't taste like any pastel that I've tried at Cuban bakeries in Miami, but it still tasted pretty good and the cafe really hit the spot. I recommend dunking any of their little pastries into the cafe for a guilty pleasure. They take Visa and Mastercard, but there is a $10 minimum purchase for your information.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. My sister ordered a cake for a surprise babyshower. She went to pick up the cake and it was a Christening cake that looked NOTHING like the original design of the cake she chose and besides that the artwork on it was horrible. The manager said he would have the cake by the next day and it was an accident he seemed really apologetic but the next day she went to pick it up at 9PM (which gave them all day to prepare the cake) and guess what? THE CAKE WASN'T DONE...they said they didn't have the design. So the whole day went by and they didn't even call her to let her know so she can try and make arrangements to do something else. So she asked for her money and back and guess what? THEY TOLD HER NO REFUNDS and she had to literally fight to get her money back. WOOOOOWWWWW the baby shower was postponed and we are NEVER going back to this place. If you order your cake from here PRAY THAT THEY DON'T EFF IT UP because if they do just remember NO REFUNDS.

gotta try the cakes. i like this bakery for two reasons: the desserts look and taste like festive comfort food with professional flare, and the people who work here have easy smiles that make me forget i'm in the city. the danish i had was not as good, however. they have a limited sandwich selection, which is very cheap (most expensive is $4 and it's large) but nothing spectacular. i think this is the place to go to order cakes. they look so fun and gorgeous. while i was waiting in line, cakes were coming in and out of the kitchen like hotcakes, and all looked like they were custom ordered. you can also buy slices. this is not a sit-down place.

Ordered (& paid in full) a TRES LECHES cake for a Corporate Event for 50 people. Picked up the Cake the next day after waiting 20mins at the bakery for them to give me the cake. Get to the event and the caterers cut cake. It is not the TRES LECHES cake we ordered and paid for. It was a plain yellow cake with caramel filling. I've had the Tres Leches cake from here before and know what and how it's supposed to look. I called the bakery, the women tells me that because of the price i paid it wasn't tres leches..WHAT??!!! you take my order, i pay for a specific cake...then after the fact you tell me, it's because the tres leches cake is more than what i paid. I came in to the bakery to order the cake...I was given a price and I paid it...IN FULL??! I was transfered to someone else, who was a bit helpful and understood my question. He said a manager would call me back that day...NO ONE CALLED ME BACK and it's MONDAY! I then called back today and the person i speak to just hangs up on me. I call back the another woman answers and they keep flipping the phone between them and eveytime someone comes on the phone and says ' hello..one moment, one moment'. Finally i speak to someone who says the owner is not there.I ask for their number they won't give it to me. I ask for them to contact the owner for them to call em back today and she says she'll try. In the same breath she tells me that they will say nothing can be done because we shoudlve brought the cake back. I was like...ARE YOU SERIOUS??!!Bring a cake back when we are in the middle of a corporate event for my BOSS and you want me to bring it back? I gave her my info and told her the manager/boss needs to call me back TODAY! we will see how this goes. It's NOT a good look for business. I've also read in other reviews that their orders where messed up as well.! NO SERVICE RECOVERY at all!

I've always remembered ordering their pan caliente ever since I was a little girl. Definitely good stuff! As for their pastries, I would say go elsewhere. Came here tonight and ordered a churro, pound cake, and un postre de queso which were all pretty hard and bland with the exception of the cake. I specifically came in here for majarete but they said they did not sell that. Bummer. Anyhow the hot bread is really good here and that's about all I can speak for.

Flan - too cake-like and not enough pudding-like. Looks pretty tho Tres leches - too dry and the milk too sweet Cheese cake - drenched in red syrup The desserts are not bad quality but I have had better tasting flan, tres leches, and cheese cake. Was a little disappointing :( but the price is great. Didn't try the cakes. They seemed to be very popular. Lots of special orders. May be worth it to try next time.

The good: I ordered a 15" tres leches for pick up on Thanksgiving morning. The cake was ready, fresh, and very tasty. It was moist, the fruit on top was high quality, and our guests loved it. Very filling and even heavy. Not super cheap (around $30) but definitely worth it - it fed the whole party. The bad: The place has a tiny customer area, which gets jam packed with poor line management. It's confusing which cakes are which, as they aren't labeled and English isn't always a first language. I basically had to fight to get my order in and picked up. Overall, I heartily recommend their products, if you can find a way around the line (or lack thereof).

Worst experience in life. Rude service. Leaving emptyhanded. Tried to order a confirmation cake in English, then in Spanish and staff still couldnt get it right. Raised voice at a customer. Two other customers ordering cakes w/o sucess bc their cakes can't be customized according to staff despite sign. Also no English speaker on staff and they didnt speak spanish. Want cake other than vanilla? That's $10 more. Want strawberry filling? Clerk prefers peach so she wont write it down. Headed to Make My Cake instead. First time in and I won't be back.

The oreo cookie cake and napoleon were classic, towering, diner-esque pieces of fluffy, sweet deliciousness and the girl behind the counter served it up with a smile. What more can I ask for with my $6? Also serving coffee, lots of options for cake slices, cookies, iced and personalized cakes, etc. Wish they were around the corner from me instead of my friend's house... but on the other hand, my tooth enamel and waistline are probably better off this way :(

Fantastic prices on custom cakes! The dulce de leche cake was fantastic and the decoration was exactly what I ordered. Staff was helpful when i placed the order and helped me decide the size of cake that I needed. They bake their cakes fresh everyday so everything is fresh. Delicious traditional latin pasteries like flan, coquitos& pastel de guayava. I love their Spanish coffee served with hot milk. And the loaves of Cuban bread are good too! This bakery gets packed with people in the morning and on weekends so be prepared to wait a few minutes before they can help you. Well worth wait.

I just stopped in here and got a slice of their yellow cake with white frosting. OMG! Rich and buttery and delicious. They don't use cheap ingredients I can tell. I'm going back tomorrow and each successive day to try everything in the store!

Some of the best coffee I have ever had! The only reason I give it four stars is that I find the staff a little intimidating and rude in moments. Also, the way the place is built, it is difficult in moments to find where one line ends and the other begins. I like their Tres Leches cake, but the rest of the pastries are a little on the dull side; however, as I said, go for the coffee!

It's 6:30am on Monday, March 25th. Today, as every Monday, I went to get a few bagels which I know cost .75 cents a piece. This time, the (Dominican) woman charged 1 dollar each. I kindly reminded her of the right price and she excused herself saying "if I toast them, they'll be 1 dollar". I have always bought my bagels plain and toasted there for .75 cents a piece. I also noticed that she didn't register the purchase and left the money I gave her on top of the cash register. Ladies & Gentlemen, that's stealing form everyone!

The two short ladies that are Mexican don't know nothing about customer service they are disrespectful and always with an attitude and they talk among each other about the customers . They take your order yelling and trying to get smart this bakery needs better people to take orders !!
